Never Change Lovers in the Middle of the Night 2006
I have seriously been considering whether I want other art forms on my blog and I decided I can do what the hell I like….. its not like I have a regular fan base to offend! So in the future I will post about anything creative that catches my eyes or ears.
I should have had a fathers day post…. may be not my dad sucks, anyway before I get therapy referals….
Since I am in the mood to bitch I am going to bitch about Mickalene Thomas’s website…sort it out, get it up and running, I want to see your work without having to scour around the internet like the cyber scavenger that I am. You went to Yale, I thought all graduates had great business acumen by default. Catch her bio here.
My minor vent aside I would love to see better quality images of her worked, being mixed media, I think they would be amazing in real life.

I loved Bingham’s work with out knowing who he was, I collected pictures of Mohammed Ali on a web site a while back, little did I know they were taken by the same photographer.
He was kicked out of school and told to pursue another career apart from photography, like the Greatest Ali, sheer determination always wins, he was the first Black person to work on a Hollywood camera Guild crew.

Two Heroic Sisters of the Grassland 2007
Oh my God, was I not drooling like an idiot when I found Kehinde’s site it is everything I love about art, cool, contemporary, modern and perfect execution! It is the type of art I created this blog to find….. it is just so right.
The poses and expressions, European gentry meets African dignatry, with a hint of urban swagger! If you would like to delve into the meaning behind the juxtaposed imagery or just see more magnificent work visit Kehinde Wiley.

I have been extremely lazy recently so blogging is way down my list of priorities, and loafing is, to be honest my day job is taking its pound of flesh.
Justin Bua’s images are a breath of fresh air, one, because some of the subjects look how I feel “droopy eyed”, but on his subjects this looks cool and laid back (stoned) I look like I am ready for the knackers yard.
Two, they are so cool, did I say that already?
Still in loafing mode I am not going to write much, head to the site for more info and art ……… Justin Bua

Photography has always been one of my great loves, but I have always thought it is one of those arts, that you can easily get by with very little talent, many photographers know nothing about dark room techniques. I feel the same way about digital photography, though it does require just as much skill to produce good quality digital images that look like film, I am a little tired of cross processed technicolour digital images especially when they are no David LaChappelle.
It is always nice to see a master in the dark room who is also a master on the mac, Steven Katzman is one such master, some of the pictures in his “The Face of Forgiveness” collection might make you realise you need a little Jesus in your life (or not). Plus it shows its not only black folk that act crazy feel the holy ghost in church.
Captivating high contrast images with great tonal quality, if you call yourself a photographer then you have something to learn from Steven.
There are several other collections on his site, including “Cowboy Convicts” and “Death”. The series on death is a little hard to stomach if your are of a weak disposition, don’t go there, having said that they are amazingly composed still lifes.
Extremely informative interview with Mr Katzman

Whilst perusing my blog stats, I found a search item “beautiful nudes”, which reminded me of a coffee table book I own titled “Soul”(least I think I do, I have not seen it for a while) with the most beautiful nude pictures of black women including Alek Wek, Naomi Campbell and Iman, exquisite high contrast photographs which were featured in Hype Williams big screen disaster Belly. Thierry Le Goues also has another book “Amazones” with equally stunning portraits of women, though semi clad this time the pictures are just as equally highly charged. Multi-layered eroticism for all.

Nas for XXL Mag
My toes are a tingling, I am all excited again because I found another hot site, turn your volume down before visiting if you do not appreciate urban riddims. Ex head boy at Ecko’s t-shirt division, Mike Thompson was customising apparel back in the 80’s whilst still at college, now a proffessional illustrator, the graffiti/fine artist sprays up a storm in adverts and commissions.

This wall paper is enchanting and interesting, though I think it could easily be considered un PC, “hummm Martha why do you have wall paper depicting slaves??” for some reason period costume on black people always brings slaves or servants to my mind. However it is extremely whimsical and in the right setting could be a good conversation piece.
