I love hip hop, hence I have had my fill of oversexualised black women…… but I will be joining this revoulution.

I have recently found and spent alot of time at I am the Nublack, it is the kind of blog mine should be if I were a little more organised. My one major gripe is, it has cost me money, I have since bought two things featured there a print and a T shirt.

Now this may have something to do with the fact that I was online quite late in the day, tired = easily persuaded to part with cash.

The print I absolutely adore, it reminded me immediately of signs outside an African barber shop, which is what inspired the artist Andrea Pippin. I also liked the colours allot, the green is the colour of my living room accent wall, painted because a friend declared my flat the color of mud! rude cow, I believe what she meant to say was my flat is neutral, brown, beiges, whites and black; I still love her.

The reason for my colour scheme is, I want to fill my walls with colourful prints .

Now this particular print ticks all boxes, stylish, colourful, quirky and best of all great value, I was going to say cheap, but there is nothing cheap about it.

I would love to say get yourself one, sorry sold out, they went on sale on November 16th! I just hope I get mine!!

Work is still getting its pound of flesh, so I will keep it brief, Lauri Lyons is the first African American female to be represented by Getty Images; with this I have already spoken volumes.

I feel like crying…. the feeling just wells up like a  brewing storm, it starts in my cheeks warms my belly, like I have butterflies

but I dont,

it tickles the back of my tongue, pressure builds up in the back of my eyes, my emotions soar and fly,

but I dont,

Shabazz Palaces

This is something I have always believed, and I am not talking beauty on the inside, I am talking aesthetics, facially, some people you have to look a little harder than others, some times you find it in fleeting expressions, other  times it is a permanent fixture.

I found Facity which confirms my theory in part, to me every one pictured has beauty captured in their portrait.

The project  welcomes everyone, but I wonder if everyone makes the grade. Most subjects seem to look about 22 years old. The project is currently in Berlin, they plan to extend to other cities, I will be first in line when it gets to London.

I am going to try to reproduce these shots on some of my friends it should be fun for an amateur photographer, yes I do have some hidden “talents”. OMG they are looking for photographers, okay I am not brave enough to try yet, but the great thing is they  have a pdf that shows how to create shots, wow and I have a 50mm lens, oh happy days. Just need to find a willing victim.

On a bum note, didn’t leave work till after 7.00 p.m. today, and I have germs in the form of a cough, I wanted to see the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the RAA which closes at 10.00 p.m. on Fridays, just managed to drag myself home in the pouring rain. I do not feel beautiful today, but I sure will tomorrow.

After Midnight Soul, is exactly how I should feel but instead I feel like Late Evening Crap, I am acting like a two-year old who does not know its bed time, I am soooo tired, yet fighting the urge to go to bed. Instead I decided to visit Concreteloop.com where I go for my last-ditch attempts at being in the know about hip hop culture ( I am failing miserably) I wanted to search out some prints I remembered seeing on a post  a while back on the site.

Another day.. I would love to say I am refreshed, I am not, but a lot more alert than last night. Anyhow……

back to Steven Lopez I love the After Midnight Soul series, he created images of some great ladies of soul, Erykah, Jill Scott, Aretha Franklin.

I am not sure how I feel about his other work, some images I like a lot others not so much, jury is out on this one, but he is surely talented.

I am excited, lately I am not easily excited, I found an artist with prints for sale, for sale within my price range, okay, one downside, they are a bit smaller than I would like, I digress.

Dawn Okoro paints sisters, real sisters and other people too, her images evoke heat, maybe it is the intensity of the colours used, vibrant hues.

I chose these two images as they have two of my favorite things shoes and brown skin.

Got a new mac, no more a PC…… hopefully this means I will be blogging again, I have 3 orphaned blogs which need new homes……

There are lots of new things in my life at the moment which I am trying out, hope they all work well. As I am tired of PCs, Exes and lbs.

Many moons ago I was at a night spot, I spotted a tall extremely elegant well dressed young man, some of his male company did not look that bad either,  I later found out that said gentleman was Ozwald Boateng (OBE).

His suits are so fly, some loud with bright eccentric colours, in some cases only the lining is bright, beatnik cut, oh so dapper and cost a pretty penny. The first African (Ghanaian) born tailor on Saville Row, a designer extraordinaire, with various lines from bespoke to ready to wear diffusion lines and a fragrance line. Everything he does is stylish from his custom made fabrics, the shops decor and his impeccable look.

His CV is equally impressive, numerous award winner with a clientele list including Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Jude Law.

Save and get something of his to make yourself feel special and for the ladies, your man feel special he may get accustomed to good taste and start looking good all year round.
